Nadal sets up Isner quarter-final

Rafael Nadal

"I think I played a solid match", said Nadal, who will face John Isner of the United States in the quarter-finals tomorrow.

The Spanish tennis maestro, who is bidding to win his second China Open title, remained dominant throughout the match as he eased past Khachanov 6-3, 6-3 in a one-sided men's singles second round that lasted nearly one and a half hour.

"I'm happy about the match today".

The Spaniard, a 16-time Grand Slam champion, saw off Russian Karen Khachanov 6-3, 6-3 to book a last-eight clash with Isner.

Like Nadal, Zverev is bidding for his sixth title of the year.

But he was always in control against Khachanov, 21, breaking him in the fourth game of the first set on the way to a routine victory.
