HHS Tom Price chartered government-funded jets to places he owns property

Not Released

President Donald Trump said Wednesday he is "not happy" with Health Secretary Tom Price following reports of his extensive use of publicly-funded private jets and indicated he has not ruled out firing the former Georgia congressman over the trips.

Sebelius, who served as health secretary in the Obama administration, told Bloomberg reporters that while in office, she only took one chartered flight - to visit three remote villages in Alaska.

"I am not happy with him", Mr. Trump said of Price, who left Congress earlier this year to join the Trump Administration.

Signed by committee's top Republican and Democrat, the requests demand information on political appointees' use of government planes for personal travel, as well as their use of private charters for official travel.

"I was looking into it and I will look into it".

Meanwhile, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee sent detailed travel records requests to the White House and 24 departments and agencies, dating back to Trump's first day in office. "I am not happy about it I'm going to look at it".

Such flights are typically not allowed if there are cheaper commercial options, which Politico said there were for Price's flights.

Egypt's El-Sisi Meets with US Jewish Leaders, Netanyahu
After US President Donald Trump assumed office in January, bilateral relations between Egypt and the US significantly improved. Although Monday was the first time the two men had met in public, they had previously been involved in secret talks together.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Monday at her daily press briefing that Price's travel was not approved by the White House, and was instead improve through HHS.

As the Wall Street Journal reported, during that time Price also invested more than $300,000 in health-care and pharmaceutical companies whose stock price could have been affected by his actions.

I don't know if Tom Price will be fired as head of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Price said Saturday he would stop flying private planes on official business while an internal review of the flights is being done.

Asked if action should be taken against Price, Republican Senator Johnny Isakson, the senior senator from Price's home state of Georgia, said: "I think that's the president's prerogative for any member of the Cabinet".

Asked if he has confidence in Price, Johnson went to speak, then stopped himself and walked away.
