White House denies pushing Malaysian premier to stay at Trump Hotel

Don't be influenced by failed state propaganda – Najib

Airlines is expected to announce a deal to buy eight widebody Boeing 787 jets after Prime Minister Najib Razak meets with the United States president today, Reuters reported.

The prime minister was welcomed to the White House by Trump amid an ongoing investigation by the US Department of Justice over an alleged money-laundering scheme involving billions of dollars.

On Twitter, Harvard Law professor Larry Tribe said there was "no doubt" that Trump accepting payments from the Malaysian government through his hotel was unconstitutional.

U.S. President Donald Trump is hosting Malaysia's scandal-tainted Prime Minister Najib Razak and praising his country's investment in the United States and the fight against terrorism.

The U.S. Justice Department says people close to Najib stole billions of dollars, and the federal government is working to seize $1.7 billion it says was taken from the fund to buy assets in the U.S.

At their meeting, Trump and Najib focused on areas of agreement, such as economic development and counter-terrorism measures.

Earlier, in an opinion piece published by political website The Hill, Mr Najib assured the U.S. that Malaysia was a firm partner in its foreign policy objectives, especially in the fight against ISIS.

The news was disclosed through the official page of the White House.

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge expecting their third child
However, Prince Harry will be pushed further down the line of succession by his newest nephew or niece. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child , Kensington Palace has announced.

According to Najib's itinerary, he will witness the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Malaysian national carrier and Boeing.

Trump is also likely to reiterate thanks for Malaysia's efforts to assist the USS John S. McCain, which collided with a tanker as the destroyer was on its way to Singapore, tearing a huge hole in the hull and leaving 10 sailors dead.

The Malaysian Embassy would not confirm to the outlet that Najib and his contingent spent the night at the hotel, where the "Trump Townhouse" suite goes for more than $18,750 per night. "We're very proud of our stock market, what's happened since I became president".

The White House had said it would not comment on the Justice Department investigation.

The prime minister also said his country remains committed to fighting terrorist groups, such as Islamic State and al-Qaida.

'It's unfortunate but consistent with Trump's policy of downplaying democracy and human rights as an aspect of US policy, ' says Joshua Kurlantzick, senior fellow for Southeast Asia at the Council for Foreign Relations.

Asked if it was "problematic for someone under DOJ investigation to be supporting the president's for-profit company", Sanders said Najib made a "personal decision".
