Taylor Swift Smashes First Day Record For YouTube Music Video Views

Here's why Katy Perry didn't watch Taylor Swift's Look What You Made Me Do video at the MTV VMAs

Swift's Look What You Made Me Do has already set Spotify's global first-day record, with eight million streams on its day of release, and the song's lyric video shattered YouTube's record for the most-viewed lyric video in 24 hours, with more than 19 million views. Since the music video's premiere on Sunday at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, fans have gone into a frenzy trying to figure out the hidden messages in the clip.

Swift has teamed up with Ticketmaster's new Verified Fan program to offer her followers a chance to buy tickets to her upcoming concert tour by participating in various "boost activities" until initial registration closes on November 28. After 24 hours, the video racked in over 43.2 million viewers, smashing Psy's record of 36 million for his "Gentleman" video.

Director Joseph Kahn celebrated the achievement on Twitter, telling Swift's fans "you are all amazing". The new video acquired 30,000 views per minute during the first 24 hours and averaged 3 million views per hour.

When asked who Swift is referring to, Antonoff told The Associated Press: "That's for her to tell you".

The lyrics contain a barely veiled reference to Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, who tussled with Swift when she objected to the line "I made that bitch famous" in one of West's songs.

Groups make last-minute push to save national monument areas
Cook wants to lop off a finger of the 346,177-acre monument located mostly in the Angeles National Forest in Los Angeles County. Mitchell spoke Thursday after Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke recommended retaining the national monuments under review.

One caveat to Swift's streaming success is that, on Spotify at least, interest in her comeback single dropped over the weekend.

One person said: "Taylor Swift got me dissecting metaphors and imagery like I haven't done since my book report on To Kill A Mockingbird in 9th grade".

"Look What You Made Me Do" is Swift's departure from her classic tone.

On Saturday, the song was downloaded about 200,000 times - it took Ed Sheeran's Shape of You an entire week to get that many downloaded.

Regardless of the truth in the situation, Taylor Swift is taking back her reputation and at this point isn't answering questions about the drama that preceded her sixth album.
