MLB Issues Suspensions, Fines Following Massive Yankees-Tigers Brawl

Thursday's brawl in Detroit will leave the Yankees without catchers Gary Sanchez and Austin Romine for a short time.

After Yankees reliever Tommy Kahnle was tossed for throwing behind Cabrera - the Tigers had hit Sanchez following a home run earlier in the game - Cabrera got in Romine's face, shoved him and Romine tackled him and hit him with kidney punches.

All five involved were slapped with undisclosed fines.

Wilson and Ausmus were ejected in the eighth inning after Wilson hit Todd Frazier around the thigh with a pitch, prompting the benches to clear for a third time.

It was unknown whether Sanchez or Romine would appeal their suspensions.

The Yankees have 36 games left, with the overwhelming majority against teams in the playoff hunt.

Moments before the outburst, Yankees manager Joe Girardi had been tossed for arguing about Kahnle's ejection.

Before Thursday's brawl, the Yankees were leading the wild-card race and were only 4 ½ games behind the Boston Red Sox for first place. Fulmer did not receive a warning, and he also faced no punishment on Friday.

Iraqi forces launch operation to free Tal Afar from IS militants
As each time the assault is launched by the iraqi forces, supported by the global coalition, anti-jihadists, M. Abadi, commander-in-chief of the armed forces, spoke at the television, dressed in a military uniform black.

Though Kahnle missed, his attempt was standard retaliation stuff, throwing at Cabrera at hip level as a response to Michael Fulmer plunking Sanchez. "Fortunately for me I know where my pitches are going, and I hit a guy in the leg today to take care of my teammates and protect them".

Fulmer, Betances, and Yankees reliever David Robertson, who also hit a Tigers hitter in the game (John Hicks), did not receive any sort of punishment as Major League Baseball deemed that neither act by them was intentional. Somebody's got to pay attention to what's going on in this game. "I think that's just another part of it that it probably could've been avoided if the umpire was standing there".

Unlike most pitchers, who deny intentionally throwing a batter even when it is obvious, Wilson took full responsiblity after the game.

As Cabrera approached the plate, he appeared to say something to Romine, who responded, and quickly whipped off his mask to continue the conversation.

"In this case, honesty was not the best policy", Wilson said.

Warnings had been issued before Wilson hit Frazier, so the umpire ejected him immediately.

"We did a nice job of fighting back, excuse the expression", Ausmus said.
