Lisa Theris survives Alabama wilderness for a month (on berries and mushrooms)

Woman missing for month found naked on side of the road

Sheriff Buck Rodgers says the Louisville woman ran from two men who burglarized a hunting camp in Midway and got lost. She was surrounded by acres of dense woods with no nearby roads.

A 25-year-old woman who resides in Louisville, Alabama and had been missing for nearly a month has been found alive, according to the Bullock County Sheriff's Office.

"A motorist from Florida was driving 82 east of Midway and saw something moving in the bushes".

"Finally the young lady has been found and she's alive", Sheriff Raymond Rodgers said.

"Words can not describe the happiness and relief we feel that she has been found and returned to us".

In the interim skeptics continue to question Theris' 'adventure' and her degree of involvement in the burglary of a hunter's lodge and how in fact she did manage to stay alive on nothing but berries and wild mushrooms....save for one young woman's will to survive.

Authorities rushed Theris to a local emergency. They have not been charged in connection with her disappearance, according to AL.com, an Alabama news outlet. The location where Garner found Theris was another 30-plus miles southeast of the location she fled from the vehicle, and it's unclear how she traveled that far. 'We want to make sure her health is good so we got her on to the hospital.

She told police she was on the move during the time she was lost, trying to get help. However, the two men have not been charged in connection with Theris' disappearance.

Manley Davis and Randall Oswald allegedly stole $40,000 worth of personal property from a hunting lodge in Bullock County, including multiple ATVs and chainsaws, the Daily Mail reports. He added that the first priority for police was to make sure that Lisa was treated before asking her about the incident.

"We don't have the total details on everything yet", Sgt Chad Faulkner told the station. "So when I got word she was found alive, my whole world flipped upside down again". "We can confirm she was in the area, but as far as that goes, we can't confirm anything else right now".

"Words can not describe the happiness and relief we feel that she has been found and returned to us", Elizabeth Theris said.

Will also said his sister was in critical condition when she was taken to the hospital. "But she is as strong as they come and is handling it all as well as anyone".

Her brother, who spoke to WSFA, said that while there have been "complications", his sister is still "standing strong". "I don't think she could have made it much longer", Garner said.
