A billion people use WhatsApp daily

Facebook had shelled out $19 billion to buy out WhatsApp.

In a blog post, the company announced the numbers along with stating that the monthly active user base has now increased to 1.3 billion and nearly 55 billion messages are shared every day in 60 supported languages.

It may look like a normal WhatsApp message but fraudsters are using the app to gain access to users' personal details.

The emails, being sent to Whatsapp users are thought to be targeting bank details of users who may not be aware that the platform is now free to use. The Facebook-owned company is testing a new feature where users can switch from voice calls to video calls without disconnecting, according to news reports.

New Evidence To Be Released In Delphi Murder Investigation
Abby Williams, 13, and Libby German, 14, were found dead in a wooded area the day after they were reported missing on February 13. According to our sister station WTHR , Indiana State police will be giving an update on their current investigation.

The more interesting metric is the messages sent daily - that's a whopping 55 billion. Videos shared per day are now at 1 billion, and photos shared per day are at 4.5 billion, the company added. Soon enough, the memes will be right: You'll have a "Stories" feature on your calculator, microwave, and every other device. This is up a whopping 45pc on a year ago when the company reported revenues of $6.4bn. A Twitter user has even posted a screenshot of the alleged recall feature on the WhatsApp Web version number 0.2.5370.

WhatsApp reached another milestone with its user base.

However, it now looks like the new feature has become part of every WhatsApp user's life. In contrast, Snapchat only has 166 million users, which doesn't come anywhere close to either Facebook or WhatsApp or Instagram's numbers.

And previous year users were tricked into downloading an exclusive version of Whatsapp "Gold" which infected Android phones with malware.
