Nick Fairley Out for 2017 with Heart Condition, Career Could Be Over

It does not appear Nick Fairley will play in 2017, and the future of his career is in jeopardy as well.

Fairley played the past six National Football League seasons with an enlarged heart, a condition diagnosed during a routine physical exam at the National Football League combine prior to the 2011 draft. Fairley only lasted four years with the Lions, and later played a year with the Rams getting half a sack that season.

Fox Sports' Jennifer Hale reported earlier in the month Fairley had missed organized team activities after medical tests revealed he had a heart problem. He racked up 43 tackles, nine for loss, 6.5 sacks and 22 quarterback hits.

Fairley, 29, has consulted with at least three specialists this offseason - at least one of which suggested he should no longer play football, according to Saints coach Sean Payton.

Russia says Trump is using 'Cold War rhetoric' on Cuba
Shoring up the region's commitment to democracy would also help - beginning in Venezuela, the Cuban regime's foundering enabler. Some might argue that Obama's changes to USA policy have benefited American tourists and companies more than ordinary Cubans.

Fairley is suffering from a heart condition that might prevent him from ever playing football again. This could jeopardize Fairleys career with the Saints and the NFL.

It's unclear if Fairley's enlarged heart has worsened or a different ailment is causing the issue now.

Fairley was a first-round draft selection of Detroit in 2011 and spent the first four seasons of his National Football League career with the Lions.

Without Fairley, the Saints lose their most experienced interior lineman, with five of the six remaining options having played two seasons of less in the NFL. They also have 2nd year DT David Onyemata and 3rd year DT Tyeler Davison. After consulting multiple doctors, the Saints placed him on the NFI. He spent his first four seasons with the Detroit Lions.
