Tom Cruise reveals 'Top Gun 2' to start filming soon

Tom Cruise has some very exciting news for those of you with an unquenchable need for speed and monklike patience for sequels.

While promoting his new film The Mummy, the 54-year-old has revealed he's ready to return to the big screen as ace pilot Maverick in a follow-up to his hit 1986 film.

This morning on Australian breakfast TV, Cruise said rumours of Top Gun 2 were true.

"It's true", Cruise repeated to the apparently surprised newscaster.
