Google Agrees to Pay EUR 306 Million to Settle Italy Tax Dispute

Italy's tax agency said talks would begin on signing "preventive agreements" to ensure the company pays the correct tax in the future.

The sum, announced on Thursday, also closes other disputes dating between 2002 and 2015.

Google said it remained committed to Italy. The company made a similar deal with the United Kingdom one year ago, providing $ 185 million to the UK tax authorities.

Google has agreed to a tax settlment a £259 million, ending a legal dispute with Italian authorities.

Google agrees to pay US$335 million (AU$453 million) back taxes in Europe.

Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
