Call of Duty: WWII sees the series go back to basics after years of futuristic installments that let players run on walls, use jetpacks and even fight as killer robot dogs. There's also War, a new narrative-backed game mode - the full reveal of that is coming at a later date. This next game returns the franchise to its roots, as the 2003 original Call of Duty was something of a ripoff of the popular Medal of Honor franchise as it focused on combat during World War II.

After years of pushing Call of Duty further and further into the future, Activision made a decision to take the franchise back to its roots in 2017 and recreate the Second World War once again.

In an article from Dream Team FC, a list of reasons why Call of Duty: WWII will be a champion title this year compared to Battlefield 1 has been detailed.

The video, which debuted during Activision and Sledgehammer Games' Call of Duty: WWII livestream earlier today, begins with Allied forces storming the beaches of Normandy, before cutting to a number of other battles throughout the European theater.

Some Call of Duty WWII marketing material reportedly leaked in Australia on Saturday, revealing some enlightening details regarding the game, including its release date and Beta availability.
